Cocoa Festival in Quillabamba
Once a year we run a special group tour that includes the Cocoa Festival in Quillabamba. This is a chance to sample the array of different cocoa from all over the jungle, in places far off the beaten track.
There will be chance for demonstrations, lessons and hand on practicals, getting the chocolate from bean to chocolate powder. Sampling different chocolate from different areas and tasting all the different notes within chocolate so recognising different regions of chocolate.
There is a coffee festival but this moves around Peru depending who wins the competition the year before. We will offer a coffee tour to include the festival once we know who will host next year.

The "Route for Coffee and Chocolate Lovers" promises an unforgettable journey through Peru's cultural and culinary heritage, offering you the opportunity to delve into the world of coffee, chocolate, and ancient civilisations amidst stunning natural landscapes and venturing into the Cusco jungle.

When you arrive in Cusco, we will be there to greet you, then in no time at all we will whisk you away to the serene beauty and peace of the Sacred Valley. This is an hours drive and lower altitude than Cusco so will help with altitude sickness.
After settling into your cozy room at our boutique hotel, join your guide for dinner where you'll meet your fellow travelers along with a meet and greet with Evert. He will answer any questions and tell you more about your adventure over the next week.

After breakfast we leave to travel to Ollantaytambo station, then board the glass top train to travel through the Andes to the quaint town at the base of Machu Picchu, Aguas Calientes.
In the afternoon we check-in at the hotel we like to use “Gringo Bills” if possible. You will have time to explore the town before an early dinner.

A very early start to see the sun rise over Machu Picchu. You may need to bring a snack with you if you get hungry first thing.
Leaving the town centre to catch a bus for 30 minutes to take you up the mountain to see the famous Machu Picchu. (remembering your passport, to get it stamped)
Explore the ancient Inca city for two hours with Evert who is an expert in the history of the Incas, their culture and traditions.
On return there is a banquet waiting for you in our favourite spot over looking the Urubamba River below.
Enjoy a free afternoon for relaxation or exploration.
A small meal in the evening
2nd overnight stay in Aguas Calientes.

After breakfast we leave by train for a 30 minutes journey towards Cocalmayo. then by mini bus to get to the hot springs, where we relax for the morning.
Then after lunch, (by minibus) onto visit Vilcabamba, the last capital of the Incas, and explore its archaeological wonders, including Yuraq rumi, Nusta hispana, Rosaspata, and Vitcos.
Now onto Quillabamba.
Overnight stay at the Ecolodge Don Felix in Quillabamba. Dinner will be delivered to the hotel.
All together, over the day, travel time - 4 hours

After breakfast, start your journey to the native community of Koribeni to learn about their customs, art, and hunting techniques.
Enjoy lunch with the Koribeni tribe.
After lunch you Visit “chocofinca” to learn about cocoa plants, the history of chocolate, and the chocolate-making process. Taste the best chocolate in Peru.
Return to Quillabamba for an overnight stay.

A morning exploring the coffee route, learning about coffee cultivation and plantation practices.
Enjoy breathtaking views en route over the Veronica Pass, with photo opportunities along the way.
Pause to stretch your legs in the town of Ollantaytambo before continuing the journey to Cusco.
Upon arrival in Cusco we will have a farewell dinner, from where we will return you to your hotel.

This is the end of the Chocolate and coffee adventure. We will take you to the airport or bus station and say goodbye.
